Blowing out the candles

This week I celebrated my 35th birthday... It was a pretty perfect day too. I got the kids to school on time, had a great workout then enjoyed a 1 hour massage. I had a relaxing afternoon, took the kids to swimming lessons, came home to beautiful flowers, got to hear my kids sing Happy Birthday to me, enjoyed a nice dinner out with Iain followed by a drink with friends. What more can a girl ask for?
Yesterday, although no longer my birthday I got to do it all again- well the cake and candles part anyway. Our old neighbours were visiting so we all got together last night and ordered Thai food and a had a great night.
I am a very lucky girl. :)

New do...

It has taken me over 4 years to bring myself to do it but Vanessa finally had her first hair cut. As a baby I was always tempted to cut little bangs for her just to get her hair out of her eyes. My SIL who has 3 boys and thinks of Vanessa as the daughter she never had - begged me to please trust her and not let scissors touch Vanessa's hair- not yet anyway.  So for years I struggled trying to get Vanessa's hair to look decent- trying to keep it neat looking - not too tangled.  There were many tears on her part and many bottles of spray on conditioner used.  This summer when I noticed her hair was touching her bum in the bathtub I realized that we could cut a good portion off to donate it to Angel Hair (kids with cancer).  The years of fighting with her hair were soon coming to an end.  Last week I took her in and had it done.  I didn't tell my SIL but instead chose to surprise her the following day.  Needless to say we all agree Vanessa looks cute as a button with her new do and I feel good having donated her hair to a good cause.  Well worth the 4 years of tangles and tears.  Now I have to decide- do I let her grow it out again to donate it or are we keeping it short for awhile?  She may actually have an opinion now so I will have to check with the boss.  :)

End of summer beginning of school...

I ended the summer off with a bang... Six kids before and after camp. What a busy week but honestly so much fun.  I hate to admit it b/c I vowed I would never do daycare from home but I really do miss the kids- they are a great bunch.
 Breakfast before camp
Timbits after camp to celebrate our last day together

We are full swing into the fall schedule already.  I'm actually really looking forward to this fall/winter season.  The kids have so many fun activities they are involved in...I officially have 3 kids schedules to deal with.   Here is a quick update about what they are all going to be up to...

Ty  started Grade 1 at the French Immersion school in our sub division.  This fall/winter Ty will be playing hockey Sat. and Sun (his tryouts are this Saturday).  He has a hockey drills camp Monday nights and swim lesson Thursday nights.
(First day of school Ty jumped to the front of the line)

Vanessa started Casa 2 (a junior Kindergarden equivalent) at the Montessori school nearby 4 full days.  She has Tuesday off of school but on that day she has skating lessons and gymnastics. Monday night she has dance class and Thursday is swim lessons. (she actually has the busiest schedule of all the kids this year).
Troy started PreCasa (like preschool) at the Montessori as well 3 half days.  I was more then happy to have this little guy start preschool early but at the same time I miss him... He's still my baby. Apart from that Troy has indoor soccer on Wednesdays and swim lessons on Thursdays.
I'm not sure how I'm going to manage all of this but it should be fun.
