There is no way I could possibly do proper justification by summing up our 13 day trip to the UK in one page... but here it goes. It far exceeded our expectations. We could not have asked for better behaviour from our children. We were so proud of them. Iain's family got to spend 8 days with the kids (3 of them alone while the two of us went to a wedding North of where we were, in a CASTLE!!) What an amazing experience! For a very pleasant change Scotland was sunny for the most part. Not something we're used to. After a week in Scotland we said goodbye to Iain's family and the 5 of us headed to London and WOW!! We were so impressed. Absolutely LOVED it! We did 5 days of tours, pub hopping, we took the kids to the zoo, we did the London Eye (the huge ferris wheel). Just a fantastic family trip that we hope the kids will remember for a long time. I know I will. So here it is summed up in a handful of pictures...
Iain's Nana Kelly was so happy to get to snuggle her great grandchildren - she hasn't seen them in 3 years...
Aunt Marie Claire & Uncle Harry were such amazing hosts for the week we stayed in their house. We were so comfortable there with them :)
Sitting on a hill in Helensburgh after visiting with Iain's mom's side of the family.
The ladies at the "epic" Castle wedding... I had to wear Iain's Aunt Francis' "Fascinator" (headband) b/c apparently that is proper British etiquette.
What a gorgeous venue!!
The handsome men...
The end of a night of dancing, singing and laughing until our sides hurt...IN A CASTLE!!
London Tower was on top of Iain's list of tourist attractions he wanted to see
Tower Bridge was spectacular
And of course Big Ben... and the old style phone booths...It felt like we were on a movie set most of the time.
This family trip made me so excited for our next adventure... the kids are that much older and seem to be taking an interest in the places we went and the history behind everything. It was so much fun. :)
