Happy Easter, Happy birthday and Happy year end party!

It has been a busy month- quick recap... I started the month off with what I thought was a great April Fools day joke.  I told the kids that before heading to school we had to go to the doctors because they were due to have their needles.  They were obviously not happy and were pretty stressed out all morning but came together being so supportive and encouraging each other saying they were really going to try not to cry and convincing themselves it wasn't going to be so bad, they could tough it out. It was actually really sweet for me to watch them come together so well.  Just before getting into the car I revealed what I thought was going to be great news...  No needles - April Fools!  Surprisingly my poor children all broke down in tears.  They had felt so prepared and ready to take on the pain of the needle it upset them to find out they had done all that prep work for nothing. In between sobs and tears Vanessa said "I was finally ready to get a needle without crying and now I'm never going to be ready like that again!"  :(   I tried to convince them it was going to be a funny story to tell their classmates as I dropped them off at school but they strongly disagreed and I did not get a kiss or a  "goodbye I love you" from any of them that morning.  Fortunately they recovered by the end of the day.

Mid month the hockey season ended and we had the  whole team and their families over to our house for an end of the year party.  45 people packed into our house and yard on Good Friday for a very fun afternoon/night of road hockey, yummy food (potluck style), mini sticks, trampoline jumping and just sharing  few drinks and good conversation with the parents we spent our fall/winter in the arena with. Perfect way to start the Easter long weekend off.

Easter  morning the kids woke up and hunted for their easter treats but not before wishing Iain a happy birthday.  Iain had a hockey game to play so unfortunately he missed out on dinner but I'm sure he didn't mind hanging out with his friends on his b-day evening.  :) The kids had a great time decorating eggs and hanging out with their cousins, Aunt, Uncles and Nana and Papa.  And as always Easter dinner was delish.

Also this month Troy started 3 on 3 and is actually really loving it!  :)  He has already scored 2 goals and asks me all the time how many sleeps until his next game.  I'm so excited (far more then I should be) that he is finally enjoying hockey.
Otherwise we have just been enjoying the nicer weather - spending lots of time outside. Ty and Nolan got out for their first round of golf of the year.

One afternoon the kids actually had their bathing suits on but I did not allow them to turn the sprinkler on. We have to save some things for summer.

A few weeks ago Ty surprised us announcing that he was on the wrestling team and had been practicing at lunch hour at school.  Iain took that Friday off and we went to watch his first wrestling tournament.  I can't say I enjoyed it or even understood at all how it worked but Ty got a bronze medal so he was pretty happy with that.
Finally today the kids were so pumped for their school dance-a thon.  They got up early to pick out their outfits and get their hair done.  The whole way to school they discussed which songs they hoped would play.  After school I got to hear about all the great dancers at their school.  Apparently break dancing is big right now and they both want to learn how. I can be of no help whatsoever there...

Now that May has arrived Iain has started his countdown to our vacation departure... 23 days until we head out to Myrtle Beach.  A 2 day road trip with our kids... should be an interesting adventure.
In the meantime, Iain's hockey team is playing in a tournament all this weekend and again another tournament next weekend so I'll be relaxing and enjoying time with the kids - well driving the kids to the hockey arena & gymnastics... but I'll be enjoying it.  ;)
