Vanessa's 1 Year Pictures

They are in- Vanessa's pictures and I'm so happy with them. She didn't make it easy as she almost refused to smile but we finally got one of her with a big smile (that's only because she realized she could rock the chair so that amused her). I still can not believe that she is 1 year old already. She looks like such a big girl now. She had her 1 year check up yesterday and weighed in at 20 lbs , 28 3/4 inches. She was a trooper for her needles not needing any pain killers. Next check up in 6 months. I can't even imagine what she'll be doing in the next 6 months but I can't wait to find out.

A very busy Monday

I would say that I think a typical day at our house is pretty busy- I keep the kids involved in a lot of activies and we go on many outtings but yesterday was even busy for my standards. We started out on a field trip to the Bowmanville Zoo with Ty's preschool class...
We got home after 1pm so I put the kids down for a nap- got myself some lunch and next thing I knew they were up again. I took them over to Chapters to pick up a book I had ordered (thanks for the recommendation Dane) Then zipped over to my brother and SIL's place to celebrate Nolan's 3rd birthday.

(Getting in on the present opening action since she missed it at her own party)

(What's a party without a huge trampoline?- Ty will jump on this thing for hours)

After the party we headed home but didn't even go in the house. We went straight over to the neighbours house b/c friends of all of ours were visiting with their daughter Jordan and new son Justin (he was 10 weeks early but is 6 months old now and doing really well). We did a quick catch up with them and I got to hold and cuddle with Justin for awhile. Just before we headed home I noticed Ty was looking really pasty and he kept swallowing. I asked him if he felt sick and he said no but he wanted to go home and have a bath. That is really not like him to want to leave a party so I knew something was up. After his bath he felt really hot so I gave him some Advil and put him to bed. He was up a few times last night burning up. I got his fever under control and he did sleep most of the night but this morning he was very hot again and he threw up a few times so I parked him on the couch with a bowl and blanket and he hasn't made a peep since.**blogger isn't letting me post the picture I have** Considering the busy day we had yesterday I'm quite happy to be stuck at home to get my laundry done today. I may even sit on the couch with my little guy and try to get some of my new book read. We could all use a day at home.

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!!

I can not believe 1 year ago today I was giving birth to my beautiful, sweet little girl. I was so happy to have had a successful VBAC and just wanted to get home to my little boy. Here is Vanessa's birth story.

(Here is Ty meeting Vanessa for the first time)

Today we celebrated her first birthday with a little party in the backyard with our families and neighbours. The kids had a great time but unfortunately Vanessa was feverish today and ended up sleeping through most of it. It looks like she is getting her 1 year molars (right on time). I was able to snap a few pictures of her enjoying the few minutes of her party that she did. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to be outside. We were a little short on shade but the kids cooled off in the pool and had a great time dancing and running around with balloons.

I feel bad that Vanessa missed most of it but tomorrow if she's feeling better I'm going to dress her up again, put her party hat on and sing happy birthday to her so we can video tape it.

This past year has been so amazing. I am still in shock that, not only was I lucky enough to have a baby girl (given all my family seems to produce is boys) but that I was given MY baby girl. She is absolutely my heart and soul and I am so excited to watch her grow up, but hopefully always need me somewhat close.

Happy birthday to my sweet girl!!

After 6 months it's finally done!

My living room is finally complete- furnished & painted. I can check that off of my list of new year resolutions now. It feels good to be done with it and I just love it. It's such a cozy room and its the first room people see when they walk in my front door so I'm thrilled!! Thanks so much to my SIL & brother for their help otherwise I would still be looking at white walls, a bare floor and a hand-me-down couch. Now what will I work on next???

Welcome to the world new little ones!

Last week was a busy one - both my neighbour and my good friend from university gave birth to their second babies. On June 14th Krisha had a beautiful baby boy - Sean Ryan (8 lbs 12 oz) baby brother to Sydney.

On June 16th Dawn gave birth to another beautiful baby girl- Rilynn Nicole (7 lbs) baby sister to Mikaela and the spitting image of her sister.

I've had the chance to meet and hold little Rilynn and she is absolutely precious. Cuddling with her confirmed that I would definitely love to have another baby of my own. Now I just have to work on the hubby...

My big girl!!

Vanessa is on her feet all the time now. On the Friday at the cottage she started just wandering off not needing a destination and has been on her feet since. She is so proud of herself and I'm so happy to be able to put her in a pretty party dress for her first birthday.

A cold & rainy cottage weekend

Well the rain did not hold off for us and Friday it poured. We got up to the cottage around 6:30pm and the kids just played inside for the evening. Fortunately there was a TV (phewff!!) otherwise I'm really not sure what we would have done. (The kids relaxing with some milk just before bed-notice Vanessa doesn't look tired at all)
I slept in a double bed with Ty . Vanessa's playpen was at the foot of the bed. Iain slept in another room on his own. Ty slept okay but Vanessa didn't fall asleep until 11:30pm (after I finally put her in the car and drove her around for 5 minutes).
Saturday it was dry but so windy and cold. That didn't stop us from playing outside though and the kids really did have a good time. A couple more little girls (our neighbours cousins) came up to play so the kids threw rocks in the lake and ran around without a complaint. The men were fishing most of the day so I got to hang out with Mary and her SIL. It was great company even if we were freezing...The real trouble started that second night. Around 3am Ty woke up complaining that his ear hurt. He's never had an ear infection so I was pretty sure he wasn't making it up. Unfortunately he woke Vanessa up so I quietly snuck both kids out of the cottage and put them into the car and drove them around until 5am!! They both would drift off but as soon as I would stop the car again they would wake up. Finally Ty woke up and threw up all over himself (and the car) so I decided there was no way I was staying at the cottage. I got them as settled as I could in the car and quietly went back into the cottage packed up all our stuff and told Iain we were leaving. We were back home by 6:30am and both kids went straight to bed for 2 hours!! Thanks Goodness otherwise I don't know what I would have done. I got Ty off to the walk in clinic where they confirmed he did in fact have an ear infection. (poor little guy) He's doing great today and I'm happy to say that both kids slept without interruption last night- probably happy to be in their own beds again. I know I was.
**I'll post more pictures later-blogger is giving me a problem right now**

Trying a change in routine

I'm sure most of you are aware that I do not get a full night of sleep very often - I think I've complained enough about it. Vanessa has been sleeping really well for the last month now (knock on wood) but Ty has been up almost every night since Christmas (I'm not exagerating either- it's been since the end of December). Before that he would not make a peep for 12 hours and he was having 3 hour naps in the afternoon too. I guess my luck ran out so I've finally decided to try giving up his nap this week. So far he has still been up every night (or now he crawls into our bed without me knowing it -he's very quiet). Last night though I think his lack of sleep was catching up to him...

Unfortunately we had to wake him up to give him a bath since he had been playing in the sand all afternoon and was covered. He was still up last night so today I'm going to let him nap for 1 hour - and hopefully catch a little rest myself.

We are off to the neighbours cottage this weekend so let's hope the rain hold off for us.

Just like Daddy

This past Sunday we had a beautiful day so, of course, Iain Barbecued. It was a great afternoon of sipping pina coladas & eating cheeseburgers and for once it was just us- no neighbours or friends. It was kind of nice to be alone for a change though. Ty was too cute - Iain had his shirt off so Ty said he needed his off like Daddy. I watched him watching Iain and snapped this picture. He made sure his drink was in the same place as Iain's and he was sitting the same way... (I'm just waiting for him to start asking for tatoos just like daddy's...)

(Of course I had to include a picture of baby girl having fun)

Enjoying the summer weather

We had our first dip in my parents pool this week and what a relief it was. This hot weather is wonderful- as long as you have A/C or a pool nearby. The kids just loved it - I have a feeling we are going to be spending a lot of afternoons in the pool this summer. Ty is swimming with a "floaty suit" now - no waterwings, and Vanessa is happy to just float around in a boat. What a perfect way to spend the summer days...

( On our way home after cooling off)
