The 3rd Kid

This 3rd child of mine has been a continual challenge for me, sleeping being one of his major issues... although on a positive note, I have learned to function pretty effectively on minimal sleep. This little man can and will fall asleep absolutely anywhere and stay asleep for hours... unless of course he's in his own bed. I've learned to work with it though. I used to try to accommodate his unpredictable sleeping habits but have learned that it's best to just continue on with my day. I do manage to snap photos of him asleep though. He is just so sweet and peaceful when asleep and now that I don't stress about getting him home to bed when he falls asleep I can enjoy the time a lot more. Sleepy shots of Troy-
In Vanessa's bed...
In Ty's Bed....
On the Floor...
On the couch...
Eating dinner...
On a trip to Costco...
While Ty did his homework at Vanessa's gymnastics class...
Getting groceries...
Like I said...anywhere except his own bed. I'm really counting on this kid being my easiest teenager...

Gorgeous weekend at the cottage

We finally managed to sneak a weekend in up at the cottage. For some reason Ty's did not have hockey scheduled this weekend so we jumped at the chance. It was only one night but so worth it. We played out on the ice and in the snow, watched movies, ate and just relaxed. A great weekend with friends!!
Ty taking shots on his buddy Ryan
Troy and Adam had fun in the snow
Vanessa had a great time skating around
This group shot was taken by using 2 hockey sticks as a makeshift tripod and balancing the camera ...not bad at all!
Doesn't look like another free weekend comes up until March...hopefully we'll get up there one more time to enjoy the frozen pond and snow again.

Personal Favourites of 2009

To start the year off right I decided to focus on all the things that I liked about the past year. My goal this year is to focus on positive things... I could write a book of everything I felt was wrong last year but that is because I often lost sight of the good things in my life. I refuse to let that happen again. What I need to remember is that I am doing what I want to do at this time (staying home to be with my kids), I have 3 healthy children, I have a very comfortable home, great friends, very close family and Iain and I have some exciting plans for 2010 so this year is going to be a very good year for us. In the meantime- these are my favourites from 2009...

Song - Gimme Sympathy by Metric

TV shows - Glee

Movie - The Hangover

Concert - No Doubt (Paramore opened for them)

Book read in 2009 - Heart and Soul by Maeve Binchy

Recipe - Fish Chowder with Dill

Restaurant - Fazio's (specifically the veal with smoked salmon dinner)

Clothing purchase - Black and white dress from BCBG

Gift received - My new camera (Canon EOS Rebel XS) from my parents for my birthday

Household purchase - Our master bathroom shower (this deserves a post of its own because it is such a great shower... although we have not gotten our first water bill since having it installed yet. LOL!)

Moment with Friends - The Week in Punta Cana with our neighbours

Moment with Iain - Having drinks at the foot of Rockfeller Plaza (our first trip alone since having kids)

Moment with Ty - finding him crying in his room and asking him why - his answer was "I'm so happy sometimes it makes me cry"

Moment with Vanessa - I had put an outfit out for her to wear and she refused to wear it saying "How is this beautiful Mommy? There are no sparkles, jewels or butterflies!!"

Moment with Troy - The first time he shocked me saying "Mommy, guess what? chicken butt!"

And those are just my favourites... there were so many more great moments, songs, TV shows... too... not such a bad year after all. Here's to another year full of good things!!
Cheers and all the best in 2010!
