Very relaxed but happy to be home...

The plane ride to Mexico was very difficult. Ty was good, sitting for most of it but Vanessa was another story. She wanted her own seat (which she didn't have since she is not 2 yet) and she was kicking the seat in front of us and just wanting to get down and run around for most of the flight. We arrived at the hotel around midnight and Vanessa proceeded to scream about not wanting to go to bed. People were knocking on the floor below us - I guess to let us know we were bothering them. It was very frustrating. We ended up taking turns walking her around in the stroller until she finally fell asleep. The trip was off to a rough start and we were really unsure of how the rest of the week was going to go...
We woke up the next morning to a nice buffet breakfast but were quickly disappointed with how small the resort was. There was one pool- no pool bar. Lunch wasn't available until 1pm and dinner was at 7pm - much later then our kids are used to. We did have a nice day in the pool and both kids napped that afternoon so it did go better then we expected. It was obvious to us that this was in fact a 4 star (at the most) resort but we got a great deal on it so we really coudn't complain about that.
Day 2 the trip really picked up and was just perfect after that. We woke up that morning had breakfast and got on the bus to take us to the beach and another Riu Resort (it was a 5 start). It was exactly what we were looking for- a huge pool- a pool bar and a view of the beach that we could play at as well. We spent every day at this resort and only slept at our resort. At 11am every morning there was an aerobics class in the pool which I didn't participate in but enjoyed the view- 3 hot very in shape guys were the instructors. Needless to say the pool was packed at 11am every morning. LOL!

(The Riu resort we spent most of the week at)

We realized that the other problem we were having at our resort was that it was not a predominantly English speaking resort. Most guests were spanish or french. We only met one other couple that spoke english there. Over at the Riu where we spent most of our time it was all American and Canadian guests so we were much more comfortable there.

The beach was just gorgeous and Iain had Ty trained to look out for "bare boobs". Ty would discretely let Iain know when he spotted them by pointing and yelling "Bare boobs Dad!" LOL!Ty makes friends wherever he goes- we met a family of 4 kids (3 boys & a girl) that Ty played ping pong with and had a great time.

The kids got along and played together so well. Ty is such a sweet big brother and Vanessa just wants to do everything he does. It was so nice to have a whole week together to see how nicely they get along.

The flight home was heavenly- the kids watched a movie and slept. Iain finished the book he had started and I got to watch the feature film (Music & Lyrics with Hugh Grant & Drew Barrymore) for the first time in at least 3 years... It made us decide to start planning our next trip - so far it looks like June 2008 in Scotland...we'll see what having 3 kids does to our plans by then though.
